Johanna Showalter

Johanna “Jo” Showalter joined The Coventry School in 2016, beginning her career in day camp and day training before transitioning into a part-time dog trainer role in 2020. She specializes in teaching basic obedience for both puppies and adult dogs, with a strong emphasis on coaching handlers in effective training techniques and helping families establish consistent routines and good manners at home.

In addition to her work at Coventry, Johanna is a biologist and canine subject matter expert at a local STEM research organization, bringing a science-based perspective to her training approach. Her professional background supports her commitment to evidence-based, positive reinforcement methods that prioritize clarity, communication, and long-term success. Outside of training, Johanna enjoys photography, event planning, and participating in scent detection sports with her dogs, further enriching her hands-on understanding of canine learning and enrichment.
